Slave Girls Anthology Blog Tour
5 June, 2014 Welcome to another stop on the blog tour for Slave Girls: Erotic Stories of Submission, a new collection of erotic short stories edited by D.L. King and published by Cleis Press.I consider myself a small-timer in this business. I write daily but rarely publish or send stories to be considered by editors. Hell, this pen name was brand new when I sent prose to Ms. King for consideration. So the inclusion of my story in Slave Girls was a series of pleasant shocks.
Working with Ms. King was easier than I expected. She returned corrected copy after proofreading but made it known that these were suggestions. She asked for my input. She allowed my story to run a few hundred words over the submission limit. She let me use a terrible pun for a title. She didn't even mention my choice of muff monikers. I expected professionalism, and received it in spades, but I did not also expect so much flexibility. I can see why she is such a popular editor.
The second shock came with a draft table of contents. My eyes bugged when I first read the list of other authors. Rachel Kramer Bussel, Rose Caraway, and Alison Tyler likely require no introduction; but the list also included several lesser-known writers whom I respect a great deal.
Giselle Renard puts a vast array of kinks to paper, and she does so with a wide variety of genders and gender roles. I grew up with Patrick Califia's books hidden beneath my bed. Ms. Renard's work, by comparison, feels like coming home.
I'm often told there are two types of erotica writers. Some of us are it for the cash and others because we genuinely enjoy it. If this is true, then I'm convinced that Sommer Marsden is the latter. She is a ridiculously prolific writer who consistently meets a high standard for her work. She is also next in this blog tour (links below) and her story, Breathe, is not to be missed.
I was gobsmacked to see Graydancer's name on the list of authors. This guy's reputation also likely precedes him. One of his seminars first got me interested in advanced rope bondage. I probably owe at least a dozen very interesting encounters, and who knows how many fictitious bondage scenes, to his tutelage.
However, the biggest shock was when I received paperback copies from Cleis Press. The blurb by Laura Antoniou on the front cover practically gave me a panic attack. I mean… holy crap.
If you're still here after all my gushing, then I think you owe it to yourself to pick up a copy of Slave Girls. Bookseller links are available below or ask for paperback and electronic copies from your local library.
